100 Years of Porrada

100 Years ago, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu was born.

At TL Kingscliff, we are proud to celebrate a century of sweaty cuddles, struggle, evolution, aka the greatest sport… jiu jitsu. To celebrate this incredible milestone, we’re excited to release our limited edition “100 Years of Porrada” t-shirt, a shout out to the birthplace of the art that changed the world.

It all began in 1925, in the heart of Rio de Janeiro, when Carlos, Oswaldo, Gastão Jr., and Hélio Gracie opened the first-ever Brazilian Jiu Jitsu gym at Rua Marques de Abrantes 106. What started as a small school built on discipline and family values would go on to shape the future of martial arts forever.

From those early days on the mats in Flamengo, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu grew into a global movement. The Lab Jiu Jitsu is part of that legacy, and we carry the philosophy of porrada – showing up, putting in the work, and giving your best every day.

Our “100 Years of Porrada” t-shirt features Rio de Janeiro, show casing iconic landmarks and the exact coordinates of the Gracie brothers’ original gym. more than just a shirt, it’s a symbol of heritage, roots of the art, and a reminder of how far we’ve come.
